Bicyclists can’t lose at Snooze, Our Bicycle-Friendly Business of the Month!

Clif Bar and BikeDenver are pleased to honor Snooze, February’s Bicycle-Friendly Business of the Month! With two Denver locations (2262 Larimer St. at Park Ave, and 700 S. Colorado Blvd.), plus locations in Southglenn and Ft. Collins, this a.m. eatery is an easy ride away for most, and well worth a few extra pedal strokes for everyone else. The folks at  Snooze not only serve up pancakes with panache, they also serve the bike community in about as many great ways as they make eggs!

Snooze takes extra good care of employees who choose alternative transportation by providing them with extra discounts on eats, and caters to customers who pedal in by providing plenty of bike parking. They’re also a member of EatGreenerDenver, an association of locally-owned, independent restaurants whose mission is to promote sustainable action in the restaurant industry. As part of that mission, Snooze has been helping place specially designed fork-shaped bike racks in front of Denver’s EatGreener establishments. The racks not only get people talking about sustainable dining, they answer the ever-increasing demand for bike parking. Adam Schlegel, part owner of Snooze, says, “So far, we’ve stuck nine forks in the ground, and we’re hoping to have another 11 by the end of April. It’s been tremendously successful.” (You can check out the racks firsthand on April 13th during the EatGreenerDenver Bike Happy Hour.)

Snooze’s Larimer location is also working in conjunction with the Downtown Denver Partnership, offering itself up as guinea pig for a new bike-parking experiment. The two are currently working to turn one on-street car parking space into a multi-bike parking area, the first of its kind in Denver. Schlegel says, “There’s many hurdles that we still need to overcome. I’m optimistic, but like most things, I want it now!” Since this proposed rack could hold about 18 bicycles as opposed to only one car, we definitely share his excitement!  Way to go, Snooze, for making biking to breakfast in Denver better than ever!

(You can come get a taste of Snooze–and the best bike parking in town, provided by yours truly, BikeDenver–May 22nd at The Big Eat event at Union Station. Mark you calendars now!)
