Clif Bar and BikeDenver are pleased to announce their selection of Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop as the February Bicycle Friendly Business of the Month.
BikeDenver Executive Director Piep van Heuven said: “Salvagetti is so much more than a bike shop. Owner Scott Taylor and his team are creating a sense of fun and family connected to bicycling and they are doing a fantastic job of being present in the community. It’s clear from the moment you walk in the door that Salvagetti lives up to its credo to help make more people love cycling. They’ve got a great location on Platte Street, a friendly atmosphere, quality product… even a brand new espresso machine!”
Salvagetti owner Scott Taylor said: “Its great to be pushing in the same direction as Denver’s Bicycle Advocacy Organization and we love supporting BikeDenver. We are here to serve the community. Our strategy is easy to articulate: we want to be the bike shop for friendly people.”
About Salvagetti: Scott started Salvagetti in 2004 to create great cycling experiences for customers (and employees!). He created a place that you can count on not only for product that you trust and love, but for advice on bikes, and a place to learn about bicycling without a lot of fuss and hype. Salvagetti sells products they know to be high-quality, they love the products they sell and think you will, too. When owner Scott isn’t minding the shop, you’ll find him on a mountain bike, his professed calling and “reset button”.
Salvagetti classes, events, and cool features: To break up the February blahs, Salvagetti recently threw a free bike party! The February 27 event helped raise funds for COMBA (Colorado Mountain Bike Association). In addition to hosting a monthly blog on their site, showing you shop photos via webcam, hosting an affectionate shop dog (Myra!) and organizing breakfast rides the 2nd Sunday of the month all summer, Salvagetti offers classes for beginning and longtime bike enthusiasts like their popular tube changing and wheel building workshops. Scott says: “Because people get cross-eyed when we talk about suspension and mountain bike tires, we just introduced a new suspension and tire workshop”.
What’s New at Salvagetti: Well, the espresso machine of course! But they also just acquired Santa Cruz bikes and the Kona Sutra to add to the best selection of touring bikes in town. Keep an eye out for the “De-Mystification Series” coming soon that will include Apparel 101, twice-weekly tube changing classes (get a free tube), and new maintenance classes.
Want some free help buying a used bike? Because money is tight these days, Salvagetti will help you find the bike you really like on Craig’s list. Prospective seller and buyer can meet at Salvagetti and they’ll do a bike safety check for free. That lets the selller know they are selling at the right price, and buyer know that they are buying what they’re expecting.
Pronunciation: Salvagetti is the simply the english world salvage with the T-T-I added at the end to make it sound Italian. The pronunciation is Sal-va-jet-tee. Learn more here.
