For any sarcastic young cranks in need of shopping guidance, BikeSnobNYC has kindly put together a gift idea list for cyclists of every stripe.  My pick, the 3 million candlepower hand-held light for commuter cyclists, share the road =)

Watch and listen.

If you ever balked at the expense of a chopper bicycle or Burley trailer from the store, get out your arc welders and read this Do It Yourself site full of projects the handyman or handywoman can do with a little instruction.  My favorites are the 1 million candlepower LED headlight (brighter than a car’s) and the haul anything trailer.

Bicycling Magazine just published a list of 10 great fall foliage rides, and two of them are local-ish.  I haven’t done either… yet!  But I also recommend Deer Creek Road.  It’s a climb, but very pretty.  Take the Platte River path South to Chatfield Reservoir, make your way to Deer Creek Road near the botanic gardens, head West until you don’t want to climb anymore, turn around and say “Wheee!”, the downhill is fantastic.
