Please contact your senator about SB09-148, Brophy-Merrifield. This will put teeth into the law that requires motor vehicles to allow at least 3 feet when passing cyclists.
It is essential that we make ourselves heard as similar bills have been shot down in the past
by the trucking lobby.
Follow this link to find your Senator’s contact info.

A shame this did not gain traction again this session. I think it is a very positive bill regardless of rhetoric about enforceability issues.
As a feckless plug. Twin Peaks Racing has include the 3 feet to pass logo on the 2009 team jerseys. The only local bike racing team to actively support “3 feet to pass” and one of the few that support “Bicycle Colorado” both financially and through logo placement on team jerseys and our website.
Fingers crossed it will pass if submitted again!
Uhh…Doug? The bill passed in the senate by 27-6 and is on its way to the house. I’d call that traction. We need to hound our representatives NOW and encourage them to vote for the bill as it was written. Go to the CO General Assembly website or follow the links from bicyclecolorado.org or maybe the link right above your post to find contact info.
Thanks. It seemed like it was dead based on the action alert. Many of us continue to write letters of support. Fingers crossed for success in the House.
