While they are all over Europe (and Canada), NYC is planning to install its first separated bike lane. It’s only a few blocks long, but it’s in a difficult area for bicyclists and should provide some relief. Makes me wonder where something like this might work in Denver…

Oh boy! This is actuallly on the other side of town, so it’s not too useful for me. But I could use it recreationally. One of the tricky things about a bike lane like this, is that you need a street to put it on where the bike lane won’t stop motorists from making a turn. Because Manhattan is an island, and 9th Ave is close to the Hudson River, the street is easily able to accomodate a continuous lane like this one.
You’re very lucky in Denver to have the natural features of the Cherry Creek and Platte River to allow for a seperated bike path.
