Some students at a high school in New Jersey presented their school with a $2,000 bike rack on Earth Day. The school refused it and said that they don’t want to promote bicycling as a way to get to work! The article goes on to say that “Meanwhile, environmental club member Alec Story points out that, while it refuses to accept a gifted bike rack, the school has invested in a parking spot for every senior who drives.” Wow, this is just the sort of policy you’d think would be discouraged, but it’s all in the name of “safety.” Funny, they don’t seem to be worried about lawsuits emerging from CAR crashes that might occur on the way to school…
Kudos to these kids for planning a mass ride to school and for standing up for their rights as cyclists!
