There are many aspects of the Denver Public Library that qualifies it to be the Bicycle Friendly Business of the Month: cyclist-friendly dress code, bike safety and maintenance classes (to staff and to the public), and active promotion of Denver’s annual Bike to Work Month/Day with engaging displays throughout the district. There is ample bike parking for visitors and staff. Cycling is supported through their company wellness programs and employee benefits, putting more cyclists on the road.
That list alone is quite impressive however this year the Denver Public Library went above and beyond. The Library has funded, built, and deployed a tricked out trike called ‘DPL Connect,’ which functions as a portable wifi hot spot and holds library materials and promotional stuff. The DPL Connect has been seen at farmers markets and cultural events around the city including BikeDenver’s VIVA Streets in August.
The Denver Public Library is a learning organization committed to wellness and they maintain a rich repository of cycling resources, as well as cycling programming to benefit the city of Denver. BikeDenver is honored to add them to the list of Bicycle Friendly Businesses in Denver.
