Deadline to apply is midnight, April 8th.
What is Bike Sharing and Denver B-cycle? Bike sharing is a new way of getting around. Pick up a bike at any conveniently located bike sharing station and drop it off when you’re done. It’s simple, clean and affordable. Learn more by visiting www.denverbikesharing.org Read about one of the first kiosks placed in downtown Denver here. See the video on B-Cycle here.
When is the Launch? Denver B-Cycle will launch on Earth Day, April 22nd. Launch events and the launch volunteer effort will span 4 days on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday the 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 26th of April.
What will I be doing? You and other volunteers will be stationed at one of 35 B-Cycle kiosks located in and around Denver. There will be 2 volunteers at each kiosk three times a day during the morning, lunchtime and late afternoon. You’ll be showing people how to operate the B-Cycle bikes and kiosks, talking about the benefits of bicycling and bike-sharing, and giving out information on how to sign up or how to get around town via bike. See the map of kiosk locations here.
How will volunteer selections be made? BikeDenver, Denver’s bicycle advocacy organization, has teamed with the Department of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences of University of Colorado Denver to organize volunteer selection. The Department has created a math model that will take into account volunteer availability and other factors to assign volunteers based on responses provided in the volunteer survey.
How will I know if I am selected? You’ll be notified via email on or before April 12th. Volunteers who indicate availability for 2 or more shifts are more likely to be selected.
What will I get? You’ll get a Denver B-cycle custom T-shirt and a free ride coupon, plus the opportunity to be a part of this historic opportunity to change the way people get around in Denver and help Denver become the first U.S. City to launch bike sharing on a grand scale.
Will I be trained? Yes, you will attend one of three evening trainings offered on April 19, 20 and 21. Training will last one hour. You’ll learn how to operate bikes and kiosks and answer questions about biking and bike-sharing.
Who is organizing the launch effort? Denver Bike Sharing, the non-profit formed to operate Denver B-cycle is working with city officials to organize the launch effort.
